Dear ES Families,
The end of the year is almost around the corner. It does not seem possible that another year has come and almost gone. I do hope your child has not only enjoyed the year, but has grown in many areas.
Next year, I would like to draw your attention to the new “ES Buddy Bench” that will be on the school playground. The Buddy Bench is a culmination of HS, MS and ES students working together to make sure every student feels included on the playground during recess. As a school community we took on many special events and initiatives to engage the entire school community in helping every student feel special. Some of those special events and initiatives included, the Battle of the Books, Saturday Boosters, the After School Sports program for grades 4 and 5, the ES After School Enrichment classes (ASE), the Spirit Club, Tiger Assemblies, the Heifer Read-a-thon, ES Chess Club, Music Assemblies, and the many class field trips.
We are also adding to ES a New Program called, “Makerspace.” The Makerspace Program offers students a place to create, engage and explore. Makerspace gives students the opportunity to deeply engage in the arts, science and engineering practices within a collaborative setting that encourages students to design, build, experiment and invent using product design and technical skills such as coding and computational thinking.
Our aim is to create a safe, nurturing yet challenging environment that is built on positive relationships; developing the whole student – emotionally, socially and academically. We care for and appreciate each of our students as the unique individuals that they are, each with distinct talents, interests and needs, and each with differing learning styles.
This past year has been an exciting one for all of us. Together we learned so much and shared many experiences that will stay in our memories for years to come. The strength of SIS community and the desire to make our school a special place of learning has made SIS such a wonderful place.
Special thanks to all of you who contributed in many ways: volunteering in the classrooms, chaperoning field trips, organizing events, attending events to support the children, serving on committees, sharing your talents, supporting our work in countless ways, and donating your time to do what we know is best for children! Thank you for providing engaging experiences for your children and for knowing that education is about joy, wonder, and fostering curiosity, along with the development of the social skills needed to succeed. For these, and a million other things, we are truly grateful!
It is a privilege for me to work with our students, our staff and our families to make our school they very best it can be.
