Dear ES Parents,

May this December Holiday season bring happiness and joy to your lives; and may all your travels be safe. We are so thankful to be working with our wonderful children, caring parents and dedicated teachers here at SIS.

A very special thanks to all of you that helped out during our Thanksgiving luncheon.  Our cafeteria was decorated for Thanksgiving by four of our 4th grade moms. Thank you Hyunwoo, Jason, Jane and Ryan’s Moms’ for making our café look festive.

A special thanks to Ms. Goodrich and the students in the Spirit Club. The Spirit Club had a Candy Gram sale and collected 253,100 won, which was donated to the Yongin Pet Shelter and the Empathy for Life Dog Shelter. They also collected blankets and toys for the dogs.

The Spirit Club was also busy collecting books for FREAD during the month of November. This year FREAD is supplyng books to schools in the Philippines that have been rebuilt by the Korean Army and the schools in Nepal that were destroyed by the earthquake. Please thank your children for being socially responsible and global minded citizens.

At our EPC meeting on Monday, Nov. 28th Ms. Goodrich and Ms. Elaine Lee gave outstanding presentations on Building Readers and Writers in the Classroom and at Home.  Also, Ms. Rashi Sharma, SIS mom,  gave a wonderful presentation on The Joys of Learning.  Thank you all so much for sharing this information.

We had a wonderful Suzuki Concert thanks to our musicians, Dr. H. J. Park and Dr. Julia Kim. Many thanks go out to Mr. Ganus for his cordial commenting as MC and Ms. Chin for helping our students on and off the stage. Thank you Fifth Grade Parents for hosting a reception after the concert.

Our ES Winter Concert practice will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14th  at 8:30 am for all the ES children to view, and the actual Winter Concert will be on the same day at 1:40 pm for all the ES parents and their families.

Our ES Christmas Carol Sing-a-long will be on Friday, Dec. 16th at 9:00 am in the school auditorium. The children from JK through grade five will sing Christmas carols together.

I want to thank all the room moms that have been helping out this year. Remember, Friday, Dec. 16th,  is early dismissal at 12:00 noon, our last day of school before winter break.

Here is a great article on raising a more confident child. Please take the time to read these 18 things a parent can do to help.
