Dear ES Parents,

Happy New School Year! The Elementary faculty and support staff at SIS would like to welcome both the families new to our school and the families who are returning after summer vacation. We look forward to making the 2015-2016 school year the very best for all of our students and parents.

Our focus on improvement has made SIS a world-class school. It’s an exceptional school because it brings the key elements required for an effective school: school leadership, quality teachers, supportive parents, and community support. The ES teaching staff is highly-qualified, motivated, thrive on challenges, and work creatively. They are professional caring people who are committed to providing the best education possible to our children.

The quality of the education we provide to students relates directly to the abilities of the people we employ. We take pride in the competence and expertise of our staff members and welcome our new teachers to our ES team. Please join in with me in welcoming this year’s new ES Teachers, Mrs. Lucia Kim – Pre-School, Ms. Alejandra Cruz Milano – Junior Kindergarten, Mrs. Tonya Gerhard – Senior Kindergarten, Mr. Adam Call – First Grade, Mr. Jim Hardcastle – Fourth Grade and Ms. Sarah Seo – ES Librarian.

We are also pleased to welcome, Mrs. LEE, Ju Young – Elementary Secretary and Mrs. HAN, Kum Yeon – Elementary Librarian, Deputy Director. Mrs. LEE has worked at SIS for 5 years and Mrs. HAN has worked at SIS for 32 years.

One of the most important components of a great school is the partnership between the school and parents who work together for the best interest of our children. The close partnership between home and school is one of the exceptional strengths at SIS Elementary School.

You are very important in helping maintain high standards in our school. So please get to know your child’s teacher early; email or see him/her if you have questions. Discuss with your child the importance of their school experience. Encourage your child to do his/her homework daily. Remember that regular attendance and arriving on time is important for academic success.

Please come to school events and volunteer whenever possible. The more involved you are in your child’s education, the more meaningful the school experience will be to your child and for you. SIS exists to provide the best education possible for our children and this year we rededicate ourselves as a school community to prepare our children for success. Please read the Student Parent Handbook carefully.
