Mrs. Slachta started teaching at SIS in 2013, and has been overseas teaching for 18 years. Before coming to Seoul, Mrs. Slachta taught 10 years at the American School of The Hague, five at Singapore American School, two at The American School of Kuwait, and in Michigan before that. Daughters Alexandra (23) and Anicka (19) are both in the US, working and attending university. Mrs. Slachta has taught Kindergarten to Grade 6, and currently enjoys the quirkiness and joy of working with this age group. She is passionate about matching up books and readers to hook and engage individuals, and is quite enthusiastic about writing as well, having developed the Grade 6 eNews (linked with the SIS webpage) her students are currently using as a forum for sharing their interests and efforts in communications. When not reading, chatting, listening or writing, Mrs. Slachta enjoys running, biking, yoga, cooking, baking, and especially time with Mr. Slachta and visiting with family and friends.
