Language Extension
Available to Grades 6th, 7th, 8th
Language Extension is a class designed to provide academic support in a flexible and supportive environment. It is a class that complements the methods use in the mainstream classroom. It gives students a jump start on the content subjects for their grade level by pre-teaching the targeted vocabulary needed for their content subjects, using connections to students’ experiences, using visuals, and using adapted texts and supplementary materials. Students are taught functional language skills as well as how to negotiate meaning and confirm information.
